The Cat cabinet, is a museum devoted exclusively to cats located in the heart of Amsterdam´s Seventeenth-century canal ring area, UNESCO World Heritage List since 2010.

This private collection was founded in 1990 by Bob Meijer in memory of the ginger cat J.P. Morgan (1966-1983), called after John Pierpont Morgan famous American financier. This small museum shows the role of the cat in art and culture through the centuries.

During your visit you will see impressive work about cats and how they have been a favorite subject of artists, including many big names in the art world, for many decades. If you are a lover of arts and if you want to know the inside of a old patrician house in a privileged location this is one of best places in Amsterdam.

There is also la possibility to rent three very luxurious and big apartments for a minimun stay of three nights.

How to get to The Cat Cabinet:

The Cat Cabinet is just 20 minutes walk from Amsterdam Central Station, 10 minutes from Leidseplein and 5 minutes from Flower Market or Rembrandtplein.

By tram, lines  1 and 2 link the Central Stain with the museum in just 10 minutes.
