Located only a few meters from Museumplein, in the district of Amsterdam Oud-Zuid, P.C. Hooftstraat has turned into one of the most exclusive shopping streets of the Netherlands.
The street was named in honor of Pieter Hooft Corneliszoon, son of the mayor of Amsterdam Cornelis Hooft. Pieter Corneliszoon was a poet, playwright and historian of the 17th century during the Dutch Golden Age.
